Palliative Care
Cancer can sometimes cause problems such as pain, bleeding or even neurologic symptoms. Palliative care refers to treatment directed at easing one’s suffering. Radiation therapy is successfully used to palliate the symptoms that negatively affect quality of life. In general, a short course of external beam radiation therapy can result in significant relief of cancer related symptoms and thus improve a patient’s sense of well-being.
