ROS At A Glance
We Care …
At ROS, we recognize that the word cancer has different meanings depending on one’s perspective. For the newly diagnosed patient, cancer initially evokes fear — the fear of the unknown, the fear of losing control, the fear of pain and ultimately the fear of confronting one’s own mortality. Our physicians, nurses and broad support staff make every effort to understand what cancer really means to each individual patient and family. It is our philosophy to ease a patient’s fear through education, a strong commitment to pain management and emotional as well as spiritual support. All patients are encouraged to be direct participants in their treatment-related decisions, thus promoting a sense of control. We strive to deliver quality cancer care at all levels throughout a patient’s ROS experience. In addition, we provide compassionate care in an environment that respects and maintains a patient’s dignity at all times. It is through the efforts of many that the fear associated with cancer can be replaced with understanding, acceptance and hope.
We are close to home …
Cancer patients from the state of Georgia can take comfort in knowing they do not have to leave the state to receive quality radiation therapy. In fact, with six treatment facilities in the greater metropolitan Atlanta area, over 2,000 new cancer patients a year receive treatment at an ROS center.
We are convenient …
At each ROS center, our warm, comfortable environment puts the finest care within easy reach. We designed our centers to make office visits effortless, so our patients can return to family, home and work as soon as possible.
We are state-of-the-art …
In medicine today, technology changes quickly. The rapid technological advances in radiation oncology are both exciting and challenging. ROS maintains its commitment to the cutting edge by providing its facilities with state-of-the-art linear accelerators and computerized treatment planning systems. And while technology is important to quality radiation therapy, ROS also recognizes that it is the well-trained staff that provides the critical link between advanced technology and compassionate cancer care.
We are efficient …
ROS, known for its quality radiation therapy facilities, is also known for its timely, organized and consistent service. Our Quality Improvement Committee constantly analyzes patient satisfaction surveys. Survey feedback is used to improve patient care and service throughout all levels of ROS.
We are collaborative …
Years ago, the ROS physicians developed a unique clinical program still in active use today: New Patient Peer Review. The weekly conference provides a forum for physician discussion and treatment planning. During the conference, the treating physician presents new cases to the other ROS physicians for their input and approval of the treatment plan. All new ROS patients have the benefit of this built in second opinion. Through a collaborative effort, the process ensures that all patients receive treatment with both ROS and national standards.
We are welcoming …
ROS will always provide appropriate, medically necessary healthcare services to all patients, regardless of age, sex, race, creed, nation of origin or ability to pay. It is our policy to make every effort to help patients meet their financial responsibilities for the medical services provided. For those patients without the ability to pay, ROS offers a charity care program for approved patients.

We are Joint Commission accredited …
The Joint Commission (JC) sets the standard for quality in healthcare for both hospitals and outpatient facilities. In 1995, ROS voluntarily sought a challenging and comprehensive evaluation by the JC. ROS proved the highest level of patient care and safety by meeting the highest and most rigorous performance standards. Since 1995, ROS has maintained JC accreditation by undergoing a rigorous review every three years. The JC is clearly the gold standard by which healthcare organizations are measured. ROS consistently demonstrates its commitment to quality and safety through compliance with the guidelines set forth by the JC. For more information about the JC, please visit www.jointcommission.org.
